I am an analytical and detail-oriented artist,
inspired by material rich with information, the
kind you can revisit over and over and discover
something new every time. As a writer, I strive to
create theatre that captures audiences in this way,
and as a director, I strive to find and use as much
of this information as I can to tell the story.
One of the things I love most about live theatre is
the fact that it is live. I feel passionate about the
power that acknowledging and including an
audience, or making the choice not to, can have
in a piece of theatre. Exploring the relationship
between actors and audience is something that is
integral to my creative work.
As a director, I am especially excited by the idea
of presenting classical works in new contexts that
amplify themes already present in the text, and
by the idea of handling work from the musical
theatre canon in the same way.
Queerness, womanhood, and gender are
thematic cornerstones of my work and I look
forward to exploring them and many other ideas
across genres, styles, and mediums over the
course of my career. I hope you’ll come along for
the ride!
